A short newsletter this month to highlight these gorgeous installation images of my solo exhibition Wet Kiss, currently up in Los Angeles at The Landing Gallery. Open through June 22nd, I hope you have a chance to drop in or spend some time with these installs. Thank you to everyone who came out to the opening, it was so fun to be in L.A. and share these new paintings. Thank you to Gerard O’Brien for another impeccable installation. Your skill in finding rhythm with the work, new relationships within the shapes, textures, and color; it’s truly a gift.

Save The Date: Self (Contained) at Ryan Lee Gallery

I will be showing 5 works in New York in the group exhibition Self (Contained) at Ryan Lee Gallery, New York City, curated by Over & Under, Katie Alice Fitz Gerald and Elizabeth Denny. I will be at the opening and I hope to see you there, June 27th, 6 - 8 pm. Exhibition on view through August 16th.

Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou

I’ve been listening to Maya Angelou interviews in the studio lately. I’m craving depth and conversations that speak to the complexities of personal relationships and history with grace. I picked up Mom & Me & Mom after hearing her talk about Vivian Baxter, her mother, and the unconventional way she mothered Angelou. Being held by her stories is balm on your wounds. Her grace becomes our grace. Her transformations, our transformations. Her precision of judgment, ours as well. I’m halfway through and fighting to not drop everything to finish it immediately.

Cookbook Corner: Kismet

Kismet by Sara Kramer & Sarah Hymanson

I fell hard for Kismet, Mediterranean food with a serious California freshness populated throughout L.A. and a food vendor during Frieze L.A. back in February. Thankfully, for all of us elsewhere, we can dig into the recipes from their new cookbook. I can’t stop making their 90’s callback miso poppyseed dressing and drenching salads with it. Their endless variations on dips is inspiring: tahinis, fetas, labnehs, bean things, you name it. Summer beckons these flavors and dishes.
